To Live in the Country

"A farmer traveling with his load picked up a horseshoe on the road, and nailed if fast to his barn door, that luck might down upon him pour; That every blessing known in life might crown his homestead and his wife, And never any kind of harm descend upon his growing farm." ~ James Thomas Fields

I'm having a fascination with farms, farm animals, country barns, country roads, little country towns. I think I could be happy living on a farm with my animals. Doesn't have to be a working farm at all. Just give me a gentle horse and some lovely farm animals and my love by my side, and I'll be just fine.  The sun on my back, shining through my hair as I pick vegetables from the garden, dirt in my nails.  The sweet scent of fresh cut grass and wildflowers wafting and floating to my nose. I'd sit on the porch swing and watch the sun rise with my steaming cup of coffee next to him, my love Steven. I'd do canning. I'd sew by my window with the morning light illuminating my workspace. He would paint the view from our own back yard.  And one day, maybe if I'm so blessed, little ones running around with little skinned knees, sun dresses blowing in the breeze, curls stuck to their face from running around in the meadow and getting all sweaty. These are simple things that would bring me joy.

Country Farm

"And God took a handful of southerly wind, blew his breath upon it, and created the horse." ~ Bedouin Legend

"As a horse runs, think of it as a game of tag with the wind." ~ Tre Tuberville
