Joy

I'm reading a new book, And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini. He wrote Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. The latter is in my top five favorite books. Ever.  If you haven't read it, be prepared to shed some tears.

About 35 pages into the the new book, this quote caught my heart.  "He used to wonder how such a frail little body could house so much joy, so much goodness. It couldn't. It spilled out of her, came pouring out her eyes."

I keep going back to this. Oh how I wish as we grow up all of us could retain this childlike joy. Life can bring you down, but when there's this joy inside, all those grown up worries don't have as much power. We can walk through this life happier. And I think happiness can be contagious.  It "spills" out of you.

Psalm 126:3
"The LORD has done great things for us; We are glad."
