Spring is Near

It was love at first sight when my jasmine finally bloomed.

NATURE, the gentlest mother,
Impatient of no child,
The feeblest or the waywardest,—
Her admonition mild

In forest and the hill
By traveller is heard,
Restraining rampant squirrel
Or too impetuous bird.

How fair her conversation,
A summer afternoon,—
Her household, her assembly;
And when the sun goes down

Her voice among the aisles
Incites the timid prayer
Of the minutest cricket,
The most unworthy flower.

When all the children sleep
She turns as long away
As will suffice to light her lamps;
Then, bending from the sky,

With infinite affection
And infiniter care,
Her golden finger on her lip,
Wills silence everywhere.

  1. Love at first sight! I've never seen jasmine before. Your pictures are gorgeous paired with the words of one of my favorite poets. Perfect! Love. :)

  3. Both photos are amazing, Christian, but the first is my favorite. I love the balance of light, and the blurred background!
    Thank you for sharing it! (as well as the lovely poem!).

  5. My grandmother had jasmine. It ran from the ground over her deck railing, a story above. It was everywhere, and when it bloomed... Beautiful. Thank you for linking up with us at Three!
